A teenage girl escaped a sex assault after kneeing her attacker in the groin.

The 15-year-old was walking on Snowden Lane in Bramley when a man grabbed her by the face, pushed her against a wall and tried to undo her jeans.

She kneed him in the groin and ran off.

Police are appealing for information over the incident, which happened between 7.30pm and 8.30pm last Saturday.

The attacker was white, aged in his thirties and of medium build.

He was wearing a grey hooded top with white laces and blue jeans. He was described as being scruffy and looked like a drugs user. His speech was slurred and he was unsteady on his feet.

He is believed to have run off in the direction of Bramley Shopping Centre.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Detective Constable Alex Cullen at Elland Road via 101 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
