Police want to speak to this man after a suitcase was stolen from a train at Leeds railway station.

British Transport Police (BTP) released the CCTV image after a 20-year-old student had her luggage taken while travelling between Huddersfield and York.

Investigating officer PC Sam Bloomfield said: “As the train pulled into York railway station she noticed her suitcase had disappeared.

“As a result of ongoing investigations, I am today in a position to release images of a man I would like to trace and speak to who left the train at Leeds and got in a taxi outside the station.

“I believe he may have key information which could assist the investigation.”

The incident happened on the 5.40am Huddersfield to Newcastle service on Monday, January 19.

Anyone with information should call BTP on 0800 405040 or text 61016, quoting reference PSUB/B5 of February 5, or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
