Court date Leeds travellers could be evicted

A fleet of cars, horses and caravans will land their owners in court after making their way on to playing fields in Gildersome.

The travellers moved on to the site on Monday, June 6, at around 10.30pm.

but Leeds City Council have now been issued a court date of Wednesday, June 15.

Around 30 vehicles are camped on the land, in Springbank Road.

A council spokeswoman said the council hopes to get an eviction notice the next day.

The council has spent £930,000 on clearing illegal traveller encampments in Leeds over the last three years.

The altercation took place in Devonshire Street on December 8 last year
