the news that the company behind zombie chase game 2.8 Hours Later has gone into liquidation left some of us stunned.
The game saw actors chase participants across Leeds city centre in an adrenalin-fuelled race, with over 50,000 people taking part in various cities.
But now a new, slightly less gory game is stepping into the void.
Leeds-based art collective Invisible Flock is launching a new adventure game called If You Go Away.
Participants download the game via an app that will give them instructions as to where to go around Leeds city centre.
The immersive location-based experience is part game, part cinematic experience and uses real locations.
The attention to detail is impressive, for example if it rains in the real world, it rains in the game, and the aim is to make you see the city in a new light.
Artist Victoria Pratt said: “If You Go Away is an experience told through sound, text and animation all tagged by GPS to real world locations.”
The game launches in Leeds on September 16.
