PUNTERS at an historic Leeds pub may have noticed some change afoot.

Whitelock’s at Turk’s Head Yard, just off Briggate, is working on a new project.

The 300-year-old pub’s function room has had various work carried since the current owners took over in 2012.

But there are some big plans in the pipeline that will help mark the pub’s 300th birthday celebrations in December.

The function room is undergoing a complete transformation to become a brand new bar and entertainment space.

What’s even more interesting is that Leeds-based company Lord Whitney is helping design the space.

Known for its cool and quirky designs, the art direction and design company will ensure the new venue is something out of the ordinary.

Lord Whitney is made up of Leeds Beckett University graduates and friends Amy Lord and Rebekah Whitney.

The pair met when they were studying graphic art and design in 2003 and their company has worked on some impressive projects over the years.

They have recently worked on Will Young’s latest video for his song Joy as well as fashion editorials, photo shoots and festivals such as Glastonbury, Bestival and the Secret Garden Party.

They were also behind the magical underground woodland that sprouted from underneath Leeds Town Hall last year as part of the Wood Beneath the World event (read more here).

The details of this new venture are yet to be revealed, but we think the mixture of old-meets-new is a great idea and can’t wait to see what they come up with.
