A LEEDS bar is searching for the city’s best home brewers, with the winner getting the chance to have their beer showcased at Oktoberfest.
The Black Swan on Call Lane is offering the impressive prize as part of its new Home Brew Competition.
The winner will also receive a 30-litre keg of their own brew.
Si Ord, owner of Black Swan, said: “The UK has the most breweries per head in the world with the highest concentration being here in Yorkshire. There must be something in the water!
“Black Swan’s home brew competition hopes to showcase some local talent in the lead up to the world’s greatest beer festival, Oktoberfest.”
Entrants must brew up three bottles of their take on an English beer inspired by German styles.
The beers will be judged by some local craft beer experts, including Luke Raven from Ilkley Brewery and founder of Half Full Beer Co; Cody Barton from local specialist beer shop Tall Boys Beer Market and Stuart Pearson from independent craft beer distributor James Clay.
The winner will be announced on September 7.
Applicants have until August 23 to register at www.blackswanleeds.co.uk.
