tea venue Creams was moving into The Core earlier this year, we were hoping it would be the catalyst that would kickstart the shopping centre’s rejuvenation.

And it seems that might just be the case.

This time last year the forgotten shopping centre was a shadow of its former self, with seemingly more empty units than occupied ones.

But now the owners are celebrating after securing six new tenants, including Mooboo Bubble Tea, The Change Group London, designer footwear and clothing store Footasylum, Blacks and Bikram Yoga.

Footasylum opens today and replaces the former USC unit and Blacks will open tomorrow at the space previously occupied by BANK.

The Change Group London is located on the ground floor in the space previously occupied by Yoghies, before their move to larger premises inside The Core.

Finally, Yoga studio, Bikram Yoga, will move into the centre at the beginning of 2016.

Home and garden bargain store, Mega Value, will also be moving into The Core to replace Sports Direct.

Denise Jeffrey, centre manager at The Core, said: “We are delighted to welcome so many new stores. Each retailer is in keeping with The Core’s food, drink and leisure offering and fits into the centre perfectly.

“The moves confirm that The Core is becoming a highly desirable destination in Leeds city centre and we are very excited to have the new retailers on board.”

Time will tell if these retailers are here to stay, but for now it’s good news for The Core.
