Police have released CCTV images after armed robbers stole cash and cigarettes from a Leeds petrol station.

Two men, who had their faces covered, walked into the Shell filling station on Wakefield Road, Stourton, and threatened staff with a hammer before getting away with money from the till and cigarettes.

They escaped in an old, five-door Ford Fiesta, driven by an accomplice and were last seen travelling towards the motorway.

Det Con Darren Young, of Leeds CID, said: “Fortunately, no one was injured in the robbery but the staff were left shaken by the incident.

“I would appeal to any members of the public who may recognise the silver coloured Ford Fiesta or who have any information that may assist the investigation to contact police.”

The incident happened in the early hours of Good Friday, April 3.
