A taxi driver was racially abused and then headbutted by a man who got into his car.

The cabbie was in a taxi outside Leeds railway station on March 20 when the man got into the back seat and started to hurl abuse at him.

PC Craig Virco, of British Transport Police (BTP), said: “A man got into the back of a taxi outside the station and racially abused the driver. He then attempted to punch him in the face.

“The driver got out of the car, opened the back door and asked the man to leave. He then lunged forward and head-butted the driver before attempting to punch him again.”

BTP has issued a CCTV picture of a man they want to trace. Anyone with information should call 0800 405040 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
