A pair of bogus police officers stole a large amount of cash from an elderly man’s home before locking him inside as they escaped.

The two men told the 76-year-old they needed to check the garden of his house on Scott Hall Drive, Scott Hall.

But while he was outside they searched his house and stole cash. As they left they locked the victim inside and drove off in a white van with a palm tree design on the side.

The incident happened on the morning of Friday, November 21.

Det Con Kate Hutton, from Leeds District CID, said: “This was a despicable act by two men on a vulnerable, elderly gentleman.”
