The ex-England and Sunderland player, serving a six year sentence at Doncaster's Moorland Prison, has landed a job cutting fellow inmates' hair, according to The Sun.

The 28-year-old, who earned £60,000 a week as a player, now makes £20 working six days a week in the jail's barber shop, according to reports.

However, his job has reportedly upset some fellow cons, who are said to be annoyed by the 'cushy' role in which he 'doesn't work too hard' and gets two hours off for lunch.

The Sun reported a source as saying: "Johnson is trying to keep his head down and avoid problems with other inmates. Some are slightly annoyed because he has landed quite a cushy job, does not have to work too hard and even gets two hours off for lunch. But no one has given him trouble about it."

He was jailed in March after being convicted of sexual activity with a 15-year-old female fan following a trial at Bradford Crown Court.

The player has already begun an appeal against his conviction with his sister Faye leading the fight to clear his name.
