Police say a £10,000 miniature train that was stolen from a garden centre in Leeds may have been transported towards Cheshire.

The train was taken from a metal container on the site of the old Savilles garden centre, in Selby Road, Garforth, some time between October 9 and October 15.

PC John Dodd, of the outer east neighbourhood policing team, said: “The train is a very distinctive item and is clearly not something that would be easy to sell on.

“We have received some information on a dark 4x4 vehicle seen pulling a trailer with a miniature train on it on the M6 motorway heading towards Warrington so it may be that it has been taken out of the area.

“We would like to hear from anyone who has seen the train or who has any information that could assist us in tracing it.”

Anyone with information should contact PC Dodd at Garforth police station via 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
