Coronation Street star wants murders record

Corrie killer Graeme Hawley is hoping to set a new record - the soap's biggest death count.

As hapless John Stape, he has been involved in three deaths so far - Colin Fishwick, Charlotte Hoyle and Joy Fishwick.

But the actor says he now wants to go one better and push his Coronation Street death tally to four.

He said: "I believe the record is three on Corrie so I'd like to get to four. I wouldn't mind the record. I think Richard Hillman has it."

Serial killer Richard, played by Brian Capron, was also responsible for three deaths during his reign of terror, although he attempted several more.

Hawley admitted it is "great fun" to play a killer.

"I probably shouldn't say that from a PC point of view but it's great being a murderer."

He said fans have tended not to give him too hard a time over his storylines.

"I get the odd bag of peas thrown at me in Tesco but I'm big enough and ugly enough to handle that," he added.
