Police say they are concerned for the welfare of a man whose tent was found abandoned – with evidence he had taken paracetamol and alcohol.

The unidentified man was filmed on CCTV buying a tent and other items in Argos, in The Headrow, on Friday, August 28.

A member of the public called police on Tuesday night to report having found the tent pitched in a field off Calverley Lane, in Horsforth, on Monday.

There was no camping equipment at the site but empty paracetamol packets and an empty bottle of spirits were found in the tent.

A police search of the area failed to locate the man.

Detective Inspector Mark Strother, of Leeds District CID, said: “The circumstances in which this tent was found have made us concerned for the welfare of this man and we urgently need to trace him to check that he is okay.

”There is nothing to suggest any foul play and we are not treating the situation as suspicious but we would like to hear from anyone who recognises the man in the images or who has any information that could assist us in resolving this matter.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Leeds District CID via 101 quoting log number 1533 of September 9.
