Participants will have 15 minutes to eat 15 pancakes topped with whipped cream and syrup.

If successful, the pancakes will be free of charge and Angelica will make a £10 donation to the YEP-backed Leeds Flood Appeal to support businesses and residents affected by the recent floods.

There will also be a £100 cash prize for the person who completes the challenge in the fastest time.

But if any food remains on the plate, diners will have to fork out £15 for their food.

The contest on Tuesday, February 9, runs from 12pm to 9pm. Mark Morris, general manager, said: “Eating one a minute for 15 minutes should be a tough challenge for even the sweetest tooth.

“The flooding in December hit many local people and businesses really hard, so we’re happy to have the opportunity to give a little something back to the city.”
