A Leeds shopping centre went carnival crazy at the weekend for a day long Mardi Gras celebration.

Stilt walkers, face painters, magical magicians and inventive circus performers were on hand to teach youngsters and passing shoppers the tricks of their trades at the St John’s Centre.

Young shoppers were given the chance to learn how to juggle and also shown how become a dab hand at the diablo on Saturday in the malls.

Among those to showcase some of their mind-blowing tricks was Stephanie Robinson and Peter White from Circus Sensible.

The pair wowed shoppers with their hula hoop tricks before showing off their plate spinning skills as people passed by.

Rebecca Bilclough, who is from the St Johns Centre, said the Mardi Gras celebration on Saturday was a “great spectacle for young and old alike”.
