charity effort: Army reservists pedal in pounds

Have your say

Army reservists have been boxing clever to raise money for a fund which supports serving and retired soldiers and their families and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The 299 Parachute Squadron Royal Engineers Boxing Club in Wakefield raised £3,800 through a bout event involving other boxing clubs in the district.

The money was split between the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF) and the air ambulance.

The cash was topped up with a sponsored bike ride organised by Ajay Sharma of Ossett who helped pedal in £5,660 for both charities.

Dave Bellamy of the squadron said: “The combined total amount raised was more than £7,000. I would like to say a massive thank you to all involved in raising and donating money.”
