POLICE have released CCTV footage of a woman they want to trace in connection with the attempted robbery of a 94-year-old in Heckmondwike.

At around 2pm on Friday 15 May, the female victim was approached from behind by a young woman who grabbed her handbag and tried to take it.

In the struggle which followed, the old lady was pulled to the floor.

Det Con Richard Brooke of Kirklees CID said: “The incident happened on the footpath that leads from Heckmondwike town centre to Morrisons supermarket. The CCTV footage shows the suspect walking in front of the victim on Croft Street as they head towards the footpath where the incident took place.”

The suspect is described as about 20 years old, around 5ft 6ins tall and of slim or medium build. She has long dark wavy hair which was tied back at the time and was described as having blotchy skin and wide eyes.
