A drunk man tried to hit a manager at Marks and Spencer with a shopping basket before assaulting him.

British Transport Police have now issued a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to over the incident at Leeds railway station.

PC Derek Woolley, the investigating officer, said: “A man entered the store and attempted to purchase alcohol. The store manager, a 27-year-old man from the Leeds area, noticed the man already appeared to be heavily under the influence of alcohol and refused to serve him anymore.

“The man took offence to this and swung a shopping basket at the manager. Luckily it missed him. He then grabbed the manager and pushed him.”

The incident happened on December 23. Call BTP on 0800 405040.
