Two caravans in the grounds of a Morley home were destroyed by fire this morning.

Three pumps from Cleckheaton, Dewsbury and Morley were dispatched just before 10.20am to Howden Clough Road.

The home and a neighbouring property were evacuated and the road was closed while firefighters brought the blaze under control.

West Yorkshire Metro said the 54 service run by First Bus and Arriva’s 220 and 222 services were being diverted via Scotchman Lane as a result.

No-one was inside the caravans at the time of the fire, which did not spread to the nearby buildings.

Crews spent around two hours at the scene.

A West Yorkshire Fire Service spokeswoman said the cause was believed to be accidental.
