Investment chiefs are flying the flag in London for the booming Leeds digital and technology sector.

The Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) is attending this week’s London Tech Week 2017 event to highlight the progress being made by a sector that supports tens of thousands of jobs across Yorkshire.

Recent success stories for the sector include the growth and expansion of global brands such as Perform Group and Sky Betting & Gaming.

Leeds has also attracted the first international office of American-owned digital marketing agency Fractl.

Other businesses which have chosen the region to support their expansion include unified communications firm Xalient and digital engineering company Caldero.

Kersten England, Bradford Council chief executive and the LEP’s lead chief executive for business, innovation and growth, said: “The success of our world class businesses and leading developments such as the Digital Health Enterprise Zone in Bradford is having a significant impact on raising the profile of our dynamic digital ecosystem, which accounts for almost a quarter of the North’s fastest growing technology businesses.”

She added: “In the 18th and 19th century our region led the first industrial revolution and two centuries later we are once again seeing technology increase productivity and drive growth.”

The LEP’s trade and investment team is helping to attract digital big-hitters by providing business case support and advice on properties and staff.
