A THIRD of Northern Foods’ shareholders have accepted the 73p per share bid for the firm put forward by Ranjit Singh Boparan.

The entrepreneur has revealed that those who own 34.4 per cent of Northern Foods’ shares have backed his takeover bid which values the company at £342m.

Mr Boparan’s bid for the company blew out an original bid by Greencore. They have not come back with a rival offer at the time of going to press.

Mr Boparan’s offer will be extended until March 16.
