The best PAs are honoured at ceremony

THE winners of the QHotels Yorkshire PA of the Year awards have been revealed.

At the Queens Hotel in Leeds, PAs from across the region were honoured with Calendar News favourite Duncan Wood presenting the prizes.

The QHotels Yorkshire PA of the Year awards were presented to Marion Lowrence of Yorkshire Universities – PA of the Year; Janet Read of RSA Group – Lifetime Achievement; Emma Butterfield of Odgers Berndtson – Rising Star; Michael Walsh from Yorkshire and Humber Strategic Health Authority – Above and Beyond Award; and the team at PricewaterhouseCoopers – Team PAs of the Year.

Yorkshire Universities’ Marion Lowrence was crowned PA of the Year for her performance in 2010. Nominated by a colleague for her management skills, the judges were impressed by her enthusiasm to adapt to challenges and to mentor others. The PA of the Year Award Runner-up went to Georgina Cottam of BDO.

Janet Read of RSA Group, Leeds picked up the Lifetime Achievement Award. Her current employers praised her charity walk which raised £6,000 as well as her efficient approach to work.

Newcomer Emma Butterfield of Odgers Berndtson was named Rising Star with 15 nominations.

Michael Walsh from Yorkshire and Humber Strategic Health Authority was recognised for his determination by being presented with The Above and Beyond Award.

David Kanarens, general manager at The Queens Hotel, said: “We were overwhelmed with the number of strong entries from Yorkshire professionals. It was a tough judging process but all of tonight’s winners really deserve their accolades.”
