TWO Leeds friends have expanded their restaurant business after an impressive £3.2m turnover in their first year.

Entrepreneurs James Douglas and Scott Munro set up Red’s True Barbecue on Cloth Hall Street, on the corner of Call Lane, in 2012.

The popular restaurant now serves an average of 18,000 diners every month, selling more than 16 tonnes of locally-sourced meat.

James and Scott are now branching out with a brand new venue in Manchester, which is due to open in February, 2014.

The Leeds businessmen hope to have 15 restaurants in the UK within the next five years.

Co-founder James said: “We’re excited to share this new dining experience with people in Manchester and hope that they too become true believers, just like Leeds.

“Our concept operates in the fast, casual dining experience, and we have really captivated a loyal fan base.”

James added: “There is a real passion and energy within the business, and we have an aggressive plan to grow.”
