Work is underway already on the next phase of the Victoria Gate development and the Yorkshire Evening Post has been given a sneak preview of the new super casino that is coming to Leeds next year.

The multi-million development will sit on top of the new John Lewis store, covering 50,000 sq ft, with a capacity of 1400 making it the third-biggest casino in the UK.

Set over three levels, the entertainment and gaming destination will be the first and only ‘super casino’ in the north of England and Scotland.

As well as gaming, it will have wall-to-wall screens for watching sport, a restaurant, function space and two bars.

In addition, the Victoria Gate casino will boast a poker room, 24 gaming tables, 140 slot machines as well as 80 electronic gaming terminals.

The Evening Post has been given a 3D virtual video tour giving a first look at the venue.

Patrick Noakes, venue director, said: “The walk-through video shows that this is a casino unlike any other in the north of England, it will be one of the biggest venues in the city.

“This is a unique opportunity to build a best-of-class venue that covers not just gaming, but dining and entertainment, big game sports action as well as corporate hospitality.

“This is an exciting time for Leeds as the city adds Victoria Gate to its expanding retail and leisure portfolio and an equally exciting time to be part of the launch of a prestigious new, next generation casino and entertainment venue.”

The scale of the venue will generate more than 200 full-time jobs including gaming, waiting and bar staff, chefs, cashiers, greeters, security and administrative staff.

Global Gaming Ventures is developing the casino within the £165m Victoria Gate retail and leisure development which opened last Thursday.

At least 90 per cent of casino employees will be from within the Leeds City Region.
