AIR RAISING ANTICS: From the left are Marilyn Smith, James Nicholls, Nick Gould, Niki Jefferson and Giedre Kubiliute preparing to take to the sky for St Gemmas.

A brave team from Barratt Yorkshire West are gearing up to raise a record-breaking amount of cash for St Gemma’s Hospice in their most adventurous moneyraising event yet – a parachute jump.

On June 17, James Nicholls, Nick Gould, Giedre Kubiliute and Niki Jefferson will be rising to the challenge and leaping from a plane at the Hibaldstow Sky Diving Centre in North Lincolnshire.

The courageous four will be given a short tandem briefing before taking to the sky and experiencing a whole adrenaline-filled minute of free falling from 15,000 ft that will reach a terminal velocity of 120mph.

The money raised from this jump – and the second event on September 9 when another Barratt employee, Marilyn Smith, will take the plunge – will be used to care for patients in the Hospice’s In-Patient Unit, as well as caring for patients who are supported by the St Gemma’s team in their own homes.

Niki Jefferson, sales manager for Barratt Yorkshire West, said: “We have been raising money for St Gemma’s for over four years now and as a team we are always looking for new ways to boost the fundraising that we do.

“The thought of jumping from a plane is both exhilarating and terrifying but knowing that it is for such an amazing cause will spur us on.

“The work done by St Gemma’s is truly inspirational and we hope that we can inspire other people to help.”
