School milk firm proves its the cream at Biz awards
WAKEFIELD food production company Fresh Pastures has been named business of the year by the Yorkshire Biz Awards.
With entries up 20 per cent, Fresh Pastures beat fierce competition to gain the ultimate award as well as being named as 'Fastest Growing Business'.
Fresh Pastures was founded in 2006 by Sharyn and Graham Morley and supplies schools with milk.
It has won national contracts and employs 30 staff .
Judges praised their hard work, unique business concept and healthy returns.
Yorkshire Biz Awards recognises firms and people who have triumphed over adversity. The ceremony was held at the Royal Armouries in Leeds.
Other winners were Upstaged for 'Best New Start', Just Coffee People for 'Enterprise in the Community' (both in Leeds) and Viewpoint Digital of Huddersfield for 'Enterprise Through Innovation'.
The awards, established in 2007 by Stephen Waud from Bradford's Enterprise Fund, have seen a record number of entries and around 400 guests at the ceremony including the Deputy Lord Mayor of Leeds, Coun Andrew Barker.
Mr Waud said: "The response has been overwhelming. Trading times continue to be tough so it's now more important than ever to recognise those who are riding the storm and Fresh Pastures is a clear example of what can be done with innovative thinking and determination."
