Nursery chain uses former church

A NURSERY chain set up by a health visitor has opened a new site in Halton.

Sunbeams, started 10 years ago by Kate Plews, has a new base at the former Catholic church St Johns Chapel of Ease.

The business has been searching for a new site for two years.

The church has undergone a £250K transformation.

A spokesman said: “The response has been amazing, outperforming all the forecasts.

“It has a prominent location on Selby Road which is a major commuter route into Leeds.”

Sunbeams now employs more than 50 local people.

The chain now provides childcare for over 500 families.
