Leeds catering firm on awards shortlist

A LEEDS business has been shortlisted in a national award scheme recognising entrepreneurs.

The O2 X Awards recognise firms for inspiration and innovation, particularly in difficult economic times.

Louise Casey has been shortlisted for O2 X Female Entrepreneur of the Year.

Ms Casey runs Sesame, a university noodle, sushi and soup business in Leeds. It provides wholesome food through an outlet at Leeds University, as well as takeaway and delivery service to the North Leeds area.

Sesame is also a catering business which provides sushi packs to other retailers. It is the only healthy food delivery service in the Leeds area and provides fresh and sustainable fish.

Businesses in Bedale, Doncaster and Sheffield have also beeen shortlisted.

To help businesses to the next stage in winning the O2 X Awards and 5,000 prize money, O2 is asking the local community to vote for their favourite businesses.

The shortlisted regional businesses, which can be voted for at www.o2.co.uk/xawards, have been selected from hundreds of entries across the UK for being the most creative, innovative and exciting small businesses in the North East.

The finalists from each category and region will meet a panel of expert judges before attending the national finals for the O2 X Awards in London, in October, where the O2 X Female and Male Entrepreneur of the Year will be announced.

Simon Devonshire, head of small business marketing at O2, said: "I never cease to be amazed by the level of entrepreneurial talent, innovation and commitment evident in the entries we have received.

"Despite the challenging economic climate the standard of the entries increases each year, revealing a thriving small business community in the UK."
