Hewlett win test centre approval
HEWLETT Civil Engineering has been officially acknowledged by the Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) as the first Technical Test Centre in the North East.
The company's Cross Green Training Centre in Leeds – a 10 acre multi-terrain complex – has received the accreditation for the purpose of delivering CPCS technical tests in line with the new scheme that will come into force from August 1.
The centre is the largest construction training area in Yorkshire offering 'live site conditions' in which to carry out instruction.
In addition, modern classroom facilities provide an environment for presentation and study, and for new theory tests.
Hewlett training manager, Steve Vickers, said: "The company has invested both time and money to provide a facility which will lead us into the future."
Wolfstar opens online division
SOCIAL media and word of mouth public relations consultancy Wolfstar has announced the formation of a new online campaigning and public affairs division to target what it believes to be a gap in the market left by more traditional public relations companies.
The division, which will specialise in providing online public relations and word of mouth marketing advice to campaigning organisations, will be headed by new recruit and Conservative blogger Sam Oakley. Mr Oakley joins Wolfstar with experience ranging from local elections to the campaign against the proposed elected regional assembly in Yorkshire and work for the referendum campaign.
ADI win Filtronic research deal
THE Advanced Digital Institute, at Cottingley, near Bingley, has been awarded a research and development contract by Shipley-based Filtronic Defence Ltd.
Filtronic Defence is part of the Filtronic group whose products are primarily used on radar, ESM (Electronic Support Measures) and ECM (Electronic Counter Measures) systems that protect modern military platforms from threats.
The ADI contract is for the research and development of advanced Man Machine Interfaces (MMI) for ESM systems.
