Company buys competitor

A PACKAGING distributor with a Leeds depot has stepped in to save 12 jobs by buying up a competitor from administrators.

The Samuel Grant Group has purchased Centerpac, of Dinnington in Sheffield.

Centerpac, which supplies packaging materials and equipment, stopped trading in December and was placed into administration in January.

Administrators at BDO LLP appointed surveyors and valuers Charterfields to find potential buyers.

Ian Maycock, director of Charterfields, said: “As Centerpac had already stopped trading, we knew we only had a very short time to find a buyer before customers and staff deserted and the business simply fell apart.”
