Builder supply firm in takeover rescue
A LEEDS building material manufacturer has taken over a Manchester firm threatened with closure.
Everbuild Building Products Ltd, the UK's largest independent maker of sealants, adhesives, fillers and building chemicals has taken over Feb, which faced closure by its parent company, German chemical giant BASF.
The Feb production of admixtures, bonding agents, concrete repair, waterproofing and tanking products of will transfer to Everbuild's factory on the Cross Green industrial estate, where it employs more than 220 people.
Everbuild has created a separate division for Feb run by a specialist team.
MD David Seymour said: "The acquisition of the Feb and Aquaseal brand names ensures that a respected part of construction industry heritage is not consigned to the history books and remains an active part of UK manufacturing.
"When we became aware that Feb might disappear we approached BASF and I am very pleased we have been able to not only save the brand, but keep its manufacture in the UK."
Feb has been in business almost 60 years.
Established in 1994, Everbuild serves the construction, building maintenance, plumbing and DIY sectors. With a turnover of 47mi, the company has rapidly become a leading supplier to building merchants and construction industry distributors.
Ranges
David Seymour said: "As the largest independent manufacturer of building chemicals, sealants and adhesives, Everbuild has the all-important manufacturing capacity to handle both ranges, combined with a knowledgeable technical team who can take the ranges forward."
"Feb still has the best brand awareness for construction chemicals among builders in the UK and we intend to ensure it has a bright future."
