An Ashes summer at work
MORE than a quarter of employees in Yorkshire expect to watch or listen to the Ashes cricket test series at work, according to series sponsors npower.
Some employers are installing TVs and radios specially for the event.
npower surveyed 1,300 UK workers. The series starts in Cardiff tomorrow.
EC credit for small firms
THE EC is planning to offer credit to small businesses and to people who have lost their jobs and who want to start their own small businesses.
It will have an initial budget of 100m euro (85m), which could attract more than 500m euro (430m).
Saver scheme aids charity
LEEDS Building Society has donated 9,600 to Marie Curie Cancer Care, raised through a scheme in which savers donate 99p of their interest each year, raising 5,694.09 and a fund-raising scheme linked to votes cast at the annual general meeting.
