1,400 jobs go in Bonmarché deal
WORKERS’ jobs at value fashion chain Bonmarché are under threat after the business was bought from administrators by Sun European Partners.
Around 1,400 jobs could be lost as the new owner prepares to close 160 outlets - leaving 230 still open.
There were fears for Bonmarché’s future last week after The Peacock Group, which owned it, went into administration.
The new owner says it will continue to employ 2,400 of the 3,800 current staff.
Sun European Partners is not yet revealing which stores will close but there are a number of outlets across the YEP area, including the Bonmarché head office in Wakefield.
Sun European Partners owns the Alexon and Jacques Vert brands.
It is understood that Sun European Partners is also one of the businesses interested in purchasing the Peacocks chain.
