£103m record for Deloitte

BUSINESS services firm Deloitte recorded revenues of £103m for the North East practice in the year ended May 31, 2008 – a 15 per cent increase from last year.

"It is a fantastic feeling for the team to have repeated and built on their past success once again," said Geoff Taylor, North East practice senior partner based in Leeds.

"All our businesses have performed strongly, with great success achieved by consulting, taking on significant new assignments in the region.

"We have also seen strong growth in tax and corporate finance, partly driven by vendors rushing to complete deals before the end of Capital Gains Tax taper relief at the end of the tax year," said Mr Taylor.

Two experts join institute

YORKSHIRE research and development organisation The Advanced Digital Institute (ADI) has made two new appointments to its growing team of technology experts.

Dr Yeqiu Ying has joined the wireless technology team at ADI as a research engineer and will be working on developing key applications for wireless systems. He was previously a research fellow at the University of Leeds.

Peter Tiley, who has over 10 years experience working on real-time applications for defence companies, has been appointed research and development engineer in the Bingley-based organisation's embedded systems team.

Ged Powell, chief executive officer at the ADI, said: "We have recently secured contracts with a number of internationally renowned organisations."
