Meet little Pippa Maisy Lewis.
The 6lb 12oz girl is the first 2011 baby to be born in the UK, arriving at 10 seconds past midnight on January 1, as the New Year bells chimed at Harrogate District Hospital.
Proud parents Rebeka Bibby, 23, and Chris Lewis, 22, are delighted with their first born, who took almost 24 hours to arrive after a treacherous labour.
Nail technician Rebeka, of Guiseley, said: "It was dramatic. I'd been in labour for 22 hours, then there were complications so I had to have an emergency caesarian and was finally knocked out for an hour because of the pain.
"But when I came round, it was great. We are both so chuffed its a girl."
Chris, an electrical engineer, added: "The clock said 10 seconds past midnight. She must be the first to be born in Britain this year."
