A balaclava-clad thug wielding a baseball bat and knife broke into a Leeds home and assaulted its occupants.

West Yorkshire Police said officers were called to an incident in Winrose Crescent, Belle Isle, at 10.24pm last night.

Two culprits arrived at the address in a dark-coloured car and smashed a window.

One of the men, who was armed with a knife and a baseball bat, entered the property and assaulted the occupants, a 28-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman.

He struck the woman on the arm and torso with the bat, causing bruising, and the male victim received a cut to the ankle that required stitches.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Leeds District CID via 101 quoting crime number 13170120309.
