LEEDS own funnyman Leigh Francis tweeted he’s “very, very chuffed” after he was nominated for a BAFTA award for his ITV2 panel show Celebrity Juice.

Francis, who grew up in Old Farnley and rose to fame with the television series Bo’ Selecta, is nominated in the Entertainment Performance category alongside Ant and Dec for Saturday Night Takeaway, Graham Norton for his BBC One chat show and Claudia Winkleman for Strictly Come Dancing.

He tweeted a photo of a palm tree amid a gloomy sky, writing: “Just heard that I’m nominated for a Bafta! Me not Keith Lemon me! Hurrraaaah! That’s brightened up my cloudy day.”

The story of Ashley Thomas,  played by actor John Middleton, won a British Soap award.
