ORGANISERS of the first Armley Festival to be held for more than 30 years have hailed the event a major success.

More than 2,500 people turned out to enjoy Saturday’s festival, which was staged in and around a traffic-free Armley Town Street.

Gudrun Shemilt of organising group All Together Armley, said: “They were actually dancing in the street.”

Volunteer Glenn Broadbent said: “The festival brought people together for a great time and shows what Armley can be like when it is at one.”

All Together Armley are looking for helpers to plan next year’s event. E mail alltogetherarmley@gmail.com
