A 21-YEAR-OLD woman was “touched inappropriately” while travelling on a train between Leeds and York.

The incident, when a man put his hand between his seat and the victim, happened shortly after 8pm on June 1.

British Transport Police say the victim immediately challenged the man, who then got up and left the train at York and headed towards the city centre.

Pc James Finch appealed for witnesses to come forward and said: “Incidents of this nature are relatively rare on the rail network, but, when they do happen, can be extremely upsetting for victims.”
