A costume display of works inspired or influenced by wartime, including an original Alexander McQueen coat, is on show near Leeds.

The McQueen coat (pictured), from the late designer’s autumn/winter 2012 collection, is a major part of the ‘Dressed for Battle’ exhibit at Lotherton Hall, Aberford, which closes on September 28.

Other attractions hosted at the house, which will be refurbished to be home to a museum of fashion and textiles when the display closes, include items dating back to the Napoleonic Wars.

A new lift is to be installed at the country house as well as modern display cases, improved lighting and technology to help showcase film and sound work in the gallery that opens in March 2015.
