Alert over Leeds City Council tax refund scam

Council chiefs say they have been made aware of householders receiving bogus emails which appear to be from the authority.

The emails offer a Council Tax refund and ask people to follow a link and to confirm bank details.

A spokesman for Leeds City Council said: “It is important that you DO NOT follow the link or input your bank details. Leeds City Council will never send emails asking for bank details in relation to a Council Tax refund. If you do receive an email and have concerns that it may not be genuine please let us know.”
