A LEEDS mum has a funky way of raising money for the hospital that helped save her premature baby.

Sarah Kennedy is putting on a soul night - the latest addition to a series of fundraising endeavours for St James’ Hospital, which helped her daughter Emily Waite, who weighed just 2lb 13oz when she was born three months premature in June.

This year she will take part in a series of runs totalling 71 miles, one for each day her daughter spent on the neonatal unit.

And a funky soul night on Saturday May 17 at St Mary’s Chuirch Hall, Whitkirk, will add to the total. The evening includes a set from the band Soulfingers, performance from the Walton School of Theatre Dance, a raffle and a licensed bar.

Tickets are £5 for adults and children are free, available from 07860 474755. Some tickets will be available on the door.
