They have warmed the cockles of many a chilly celebrity's heart and even helped a world-renowned explorer cope in arctic conditions.
Now a West Yorkshire firm's famous thermals are helping our troops to deal with the freezing cold abroad.
Damart, based in Bingley, is donating a huge truck load of its popular winter warmers to our boys and girls in Iraq and Afghanistan.

rrrr-illiant gesture will see 10,000 sets of thermal underwear – made of a special fabric which forms a heat layer next to your skin – winging their way to British soldiers based in cities like Basra and Kabul.
Damart already has a long history of keeping the nation warm – with an impressive customer list including intrepid explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, Terry Wogan and the entire cast of Coronation Street.
Now the firm has joined forces with the Support Our Soldiers charity – which was set up in March 2003 by Bingley mum Karen Webster when her son was deployed to Iraq.
With temperatures in Iraq and Afghanistan toppling to as low as 17 degrees at night, the timing couldn't be better.
