HE has dazzled the world with his sleight of hand since the age of five, now teen magician Darren McDonald has been named a world champion.

But the 19-year-old who is taking a law degree at Leeds University maintains that for now magic will remain just a hobby.
Darren pipped 13 competitors from as far afield as Las Vegas, Canada, Germany and the Ukraine to be crowned Junior World Champion of Comedy Magic in Blackpool as part of the Showzam festival of music, circus and new variety.
Darren had been invited to take part by The Magic Circle, after he dazzled them in a performance at their headquarters in London. The highly secretive organisation has the Prince of Wales among its 1,500 members.
"Most of my family were there to see me win it and they were all very pleased," said Darren. "My friends say it's cool that I'm a world champion magician."
Darren has also performed in front of his hero Paul Daniels.
At the age of 16 he was named the British Magical Champion of General Magic, and also won the Ken Dodd Comedy Award for most promising comedy talent act.
He showed off his tricks on the BBC's Blue Peter aged just 10 , making a sponge cake out of washing liquid and tomato sauce.
Darren has been wowing his friends and family with his box of tricks ever since he received a Sooty magic set as a tot.
His father Tony was always interested in magic, but Darren was the first in the family to take the hobby seriously.
Last year Darren won the Northern Magic Circle Stage and Close up Magic competitions.
Asked if there was a possible future career in magic, he said: "It's a possibility, but I just want to keep it as a hobby for now.
"I don't want to have to rely upon it. I'm concentrating more on university just now.
"But I am doing another competition soon – the British Close-up Magic Championships. Whatever comes up though, I'll try to embrace it."
