Police divers have been brought in to search the River Calder in Castleford as part of the hunt for a missing local woman.
As reported in the YEP last week, 48-year-old Jane Bacon from Castleford went missing on January 7.

Her disappearance was reported when she failed to turn up for her job which the YEP understands was at a Leeds hospital.

Police say inquiries are ongoing to trace Ms Bacon.

A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "It is believed she got on the number 410 bus at Leeds Road, Cutsyke, opposite the Double Dragon Chinese Takeaway, on Jan 7 at 5.55am.

"She was seen getting off at Leeds City Bus Station at 6.20am and was reported missing when she failed to turn up for work."

And this week police have revealed that a further sighting of Ms Bacon has been confirmed getting off the return 410 bus at Four Lane Ends, Castleford, at 6.55am that day.

The police spokeswoman added: "Police inquiries are ongoing including searches of nearby areas."

She confirmed that this had included searches of a stretch of the River Aire by members of the force's Underwater Search Unit.

Police are still appealing for anyone who has any information about Miss Bacon's disappearance to come forward.

She is described as white, 5ft 7in tall, of slim build with brown and black shoulder length hair with flashes of grey. She was last seen wearing a navy blue Regatta jacket, blue jeans, black boots and was carrying a dark rucksack.

Police would like to urge Jane or anyone who has any information about her whereabouts to contact Wakefield District Police on 0845 6060606
