The 24-year-old was being questioned by detectives after being arrested yesterday at the club's training ground at
Thorp Arch, near Wetherby, and held overnight at Chapeltown police station
A second Leeds player, Jermaine Pennant, aged 20 and on l
oan from Arsenal, was questioned by police at the training ground but was not arrested.
Another man, said not to be a footballer, was also arrested yesterday and also held at Chapeltown police station. He is believed to be a friend of one of the players.
The arrest of Morris, who joined the club on a free transfer from Chelsea, came after a 20-year-old woman claimed she had been sexually assaulted after getting into a car with several men she met in Leeds city centre on Monday night.
Lay-by
West Yorkshire Police said today that "two men" were still being questioned about the allegation.
The incident is believed to have happened after the woman met several men in a Leeds city centre bar and later joined them in a car.
The car was believed to have been driven towards the Linton area, on the outskirts of Leeds, when the woman claims the alleged sex attack happened.
Throughout yesterday and today police and forensic experts examined a lay-by on the A58 Wetherby Road, described by police as "a potential link" to the
investigation.
Detectives are known to have also seized footage from cctv cameras in the city and at local bars to establish the events leading up to the alleged rape.
Leeds United said in a statement: "Leeds United Football Club has been advised by West Yorkshire Police of an on-going investigation, and in line with club policy, full co-operation has been extended to the police.
"Any further comment cannot or will not be made by the club until the police investigation has been concluded and the club informed of that conclusion."
Police said last night: "We are currently investigating an alleged serious sex assault on a 20-year-old woman in Leeds.
"Two men have been arrested and are currently being questioned."
