Two in hospital after Leeds assault

AN assault victim remains in intensive care following an early-morning disturbance in Leeds city centre.

The 19-year-old, who suffered head injuries in the incident early on Saturday, is in the intensive care unit of Leeds General Infirmary.

A 21-year-old man from Leeds who received a broken jaw has been released from hospital.

The attack happened around New Briggate and Belgrave Street, near Gatecrasher nightclub and Leeds Registry Office, between 4am and 4.30am on Saturday.

Two Bradford men also received treatment at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information should contact police on 0845 6060606 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

* Two Huddersfield men, aged 20 and 25, were arrested on Saturday morning in connection with the disturbance. They have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
