Tributes from friends and work colleagues have appeared on the Gone Too Soon website set up in memory of Mr Oldfield who lived in Bramley and worked at a Leeds-based magazine.

Riccardo McDillon Da-Silva, a friend and work collegue, said: "To a person who was not afraid to live life and to enjoy each day as it came. A vibrant personality with great sense of humour. Although we had our differences you never failed to make me laugh. I will miss you dearly and have fond memories of you. Rest in peace my dear friend."

Lynne Hiscoe, from Leeds, added: "What am I gonna do now on my fag breaks, work will never be the same without you. I only knew you a few months but I gelled with you straight away, you were that sort of guy. I feel blessed to have known you rest in peace my little tp, xx. Miss you loads already, we'll meet again one day."

And Nicola, who described herself as a landlady, said: "Still can't believe you're gone. The office is so quiet and empty without you. Rest in peace Damian."

A post mortem was held yesterday and a formal identification by Mr Oldfield's family is expected to take place over the weekend. A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

You were always someone i looked forward to having to having a gossip & a laugh with on my way home from work, and i`m already missing seeing you at the bus stop babe. You certainly knew how to have a good time and made the most of the time that you had here with all your friends. I know you meant the world to a lot of my close friends and was practically family to Paul and his mum. The memories you have left behind are colourful to say the least.
Cant believe you have been cheated from your future but I'm sure where ever you are now you will be causing havoc!!
