The family of a young mum who was strangled just before her daughter's second birthday have paid tribute to the "wonderful" 20-year-old.
Michelle Greenwood, from Knottingley, was due to celebrate her daughter's birthday on October 13.

A murder investigation is under way after she was carried into a police station at Thorne, near Doncaster, in a "collapsed state" at 4am on Saturday.

Michelle's mother said: "Michelle was a beautiful, hard working, thoughtful, loving 20-year-old woman and a wonderful and doting mum to a gorgeous little girl.

"She was full of life with dreams for both herself and her daughter. We all love her deeply, now and forever."

Michelle was taken from the police station to Doncaster Royal Infirmary but died there at around 5.45am.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said a man had been arrested on suspicion of murder.

She said a post-mortem examination had revealed the 20-year-old had been strangled.

The police station was sealed off on Saturday as investigations continued, along with a nearby stretch of road. Both areas have now been reopened.

The spokeswoman said: "A 28-year-old man from the Stainforth area of Doncaster has been arrested on suspicion of murder."
